Technology Consulting

Know what to build and what it will cost — before you build it

Software & architecture consulting for Canadian businesses

Senior, engineer-led advice from someone with 14+ years building enterprise systems. We turn your idea or your problem into clear options, honest trade-offs and fixed prices — covering what it costs to build and what it costs to run. The report is yours to use with any development team.

Sound familiar?

  • —Quotes all over the map. Three agencies, three prices — one of them 3x the others — and no way to tell who's right.
  • —No idea what it will cost to run. Hosting, APIs, licences and maintenance show up after launch, not in the quote.
  • —Which technology is right? Cloud or on-premise, .NET or Python, custom build or off-the-shelf — everyone recommends what they sell.
  • —No CTO to ask. Big technology decisions, but no senior technical person on the team to sanity-check them.

How it works

01

Discovery

We learn the business problem, constraints and your target budget range.

02

Options Matrix

We design 2–3 realistic technical paths, from lean to scalable.

03

Cost vs. capability

We lay out the trade-offs: performance, build time, monthly hosting and API costs, maintenance.

04

Decision & fixed quote

You choose the path; it gets a fixed price and timeline. Over budget? We phase it — core features first.

What you walk away with

  • A plain-English report your team, investors or any vendor can use
  • Clear recommendation — including "buy, don't build" when that's cheaper
  • Total cost of ownership: build, hosting, APIs, maintenance
  • Phased roadmap with fixed prices
  • Privacy and Canadian data-residency considerations (PIPEDA)

Why CODIA

  • Engineer-led. The person who scopes your project is the person who can build it.
  • Vendor-neutral. We recommend what fits — even if it's an off-the-shelf tool.
  • Total cost, not just build cost. Hosting, APIs and maintenance are in the numbers from day one.
  • Canadian by default. Data residency and PIPEDA considered in every recommendation.
  • Fixed prices. No open-ended hourly billing.

FAQ

Is this IT consulting like help desk or managed IT?

No. Unlike typical IT consulting firms, we don't manage computers, networks or Microsoft 365. We focus on software, architecture, cloud and AI decisions.

Do I have to hire CODIA to build the project?

No. The report is yours to use with any team. If you do build with us within 30 days, the Project Scoping fee is fully credited.

Why pay for an estimate instead of getting a free quote?

Free quotes are educated guesses. A scoped estimate finds the expensive mistakes before development starts — when they're cheapest to fix.

Can you review a quote or proposal from another agency?

Yes — that's the Architecture & Technology Review. We'll tell you whether the price, scope and technology make sense.

What if the estimate is above our budget?

We adjust scope and phasing so a first version fits your budget. Each option still has a fixed price.

Do you work with companies outside the GTA?

Yes. We work remotely with businesses across Canada — Toronto, Mississauga, Ottawa, Calgary, Vancouver and beyond — as an IT and technology consulting partner.

Flexibility is in the scope, never in the price — every consulting option is fixed before work starts.
